Het verhaal van de pop die mens wordt en ontdekt dat het leven geen speelparadijs is, wordt gespeeld door twintig voormalige straatkinderen uit Nairobi. Regisseur Mario Baliani heeft ze letterlijk van de vuilnisbelt geplukt. Ze mochten meedoen als ze bereid waren hun leven te beteren en te stoppen met lijmsnuiven bijvoorbeeld.<br \/>\nDat alleen al maakt deze inventieve uitvoering onvergelijkbaar met enig andere versie.
